2018 summary

2018 was a very mixed bag and unlike 2017 it featured “off field” dramas as well and the usual work related issues.

Of course fueling this was that disease that has destroyed my existence for years and years.... and I don’t mean my Tourette’s.  Being nice has been my downfall for over a decade now and this year was certainly no exception.

The decision to open my place up for boarders once again backfired in my face and set me off on a disasterous political trend where I got hardcore into self reliance thanks to an incident at mine which resulted in me being less than satisfied with the “emergency” response.  I would deem then NOT an emergency service when your told they are too busy to respond to a potential home invasion. This incident at the start of the year basically was the straw that broke the camels back in terms of mistrust of others.  However in a strange twist the deteriorating situation at home affected my workLife positively.... and for some reason I was finishing nice and fast now.  Unfortunately it wasn’t to last... my Tourette’s would have the final day and I was having awful episodes which would leave me bedridden for days on end.

Once I closed my doors to visitors the situation improved but then work life started deteriorating again. It was about then that the idea of being a silent partner in a franchise was presented to me.  it looked like it could work and more importantly I really had no choice as post was becoming too much for me and my Tourette’s and hence had to leave.  unfortunately the situation with the franchise went pear shaped and never recovered and whilst a disaster was still worth a go as staying at post was now out of the question.

In the middle of the year I had a very good trip to Wellington for some RNR... prob the highlight of the year for me.

In October I was allmost killed in a house fire at my neighbours place.  Our places are connected and I was unable to get to sleep and then I heard the commotion and got up to see their back balcony well ablaze.  The fire got inside their house and into the roof filling their place with smoke... then my place.   Anyone who knows what house fire smoke is like knows that it’s TOXIC. The fire department came really fast and the fire was out within 10 minutes.

That said I lasted at post until the end of the year despite both my situation at post and the business slowly going tits up.

And omg the train wreck that was to come in 2019
