2020 Writeup

 ok so here it is in all it’s glory.  coming off from a good end of 2019 I started 2020 loving alone at mine. In fact the year can be defined as a pretty “lonely” year. In other words peace and quiet which meant it should have been good right?   For the most part it was.  It started with no money dramas and I was enjoying my jobs.  The news was reporting some mystery illness in China that was similar to the SARS outbreak in 2003 and was very contagious and he’d the potential to go global.  Well go global it did... this illness now dubbed COVID 19 really defined 2020 and for many ppl they seemed to hate the year as a result. As for me.... well I enjoyed it!  I’d rather all that than having my house raided, running out of money and going on food stamps and dealing with idiot flat mates with envy issues and violent visitors and worst of all a fire that easily could have killed me had I been able to fall asleep when I wanted to.  So yeah I’ll take being paid to play video games in peace and quiet over that other stuff ANYDAY.  I’m not a very popular person so I tend not to need others holding my hand all the time and I love my ME time.... so  self isolating is a piece of cake.  In April the whole country did just that... LOCKDOWN.  It was much much better than what the critics say it was... some from overseas who have no idea as to what it was really like.  Ppl were treated properly and the army weren’t patrolling the streets like some feared would happen.  I loved it! It was the highlight of the year for me and ranks alongside my Australia trips and me being unemployed in 2019 before the money ran out.    if it wasn’t for the last 2 months then the year would have cracked the top 5 in the modern era (2005 onwards).  This is in reference to the timeline of one of my favourite death metal bands Cannibal Corpse which I refer to their “modern era” as anything from the their 2006 album (Kill) onwards as the lineup hasn’t changed since then,  anyway this ain’t a music review... it’s a 2020 review and like death metal bands their was issues with violent ppl that came to a head in the latter part of the year from November onwards.  The usual issues with other drivers.... which was notably worse this year (made me appreciate lockdown even more) and of course that idiot that attacked me whilst doing the papers in November.  I took 2 weeks off work as I was pretty pissed off and even now look around before I deliver to a letter box. So yes I’m all in favour of locking everyone up again cos clearly we can’t be trusted as a species anymore.  Haha that’s my conclusion... so whilst 2020 had some VERY good parts to it and a very good 10 months the last 2 months ruined it and I still have this  desire to be away from ppl in general and friendships certainly ran cold.... it was definitely a year which I enjoyed being alone.   So I’m gonna have to stick it smack bang in the middle of the “modern era” around where 2006 is... in fact between 2006 and 2017... so the best of the recent years... infact better than anything since 2012.  HOWEVER I’ve decided to start a whole NEW era and 2020 is the first year in that era... but that’s how it would have ranked if it was compared to the “modern era”.... number 9.
