1990

ok from 1990 onwards each year was sorta signified by a certain apsect that that year majored in... ie RC CARS, kitesurfing, church etc etc.  Each year had a different theme lol... hey i didn't plan this... it just happened.  1990 ironically enuf was the year of girls... funny that the first thing a year is known for is the very thing that i don't have much to do with.

Anyway in 1989 i got into Motley Crue... stayed with the Motley Crue theme for most of 1990 and music taste was getting heavier and heavier.  in the middle of the year i finally took the plunge and got some REAL heavy metal (ie stuff not played on the radio).  My mum of course was worried... she saw the story about the guy who shot himself cos he listened to Judas Priest and was worried that i would try and kill myself.  i was a moody sorta person and prone to outbursts... definately quite antisocial and gory too.  i was still into radio controlled cars in a big way and as i was competing in "nerd wars" at skool I wasn't exactly doing badly in exams.  infact my aim was to a be a nerd AND a metalhead.  i never had the image of either... but inside i was both heavily into my skoolwork and my music.  So of course i just had to get into Metallica... Kill em all was the first album i got... wow haha going into the deep end... this is their heaviest album and their oldest so its their best imo and yes never mind the rumours of classicial being the best music to study to..... i had my head in the books and thrash metal chewin up my ear! hehe :).

I played soccer at skool and my dad would come along... as well as the other guys parents too... we had a good supporters club... it was great.  I remember scoring this real flukey goal haha... opposition goalie did a clearing kick... i basically just meant to kick it back in the general direction... but went over his head and into the net lololol... haha so funi and what a fluke!  Outisde of skool i went to numerous RC car events... especially in Waikato... by now i was the mechanic for all our cars... haha i sorta knew what i was doing as dad's and Pauls car didn't fall to bits.... i think even my car stayed in one piece most of the time.

but it wasn't allways a bed of roses.... at skool i started getting moody and had rejection issues (mmmm teenage problems haha).  Then the girls started getting involved and playing games with me... and being the gullable person i was i was taken for a ride every time the girls sed i was cute etc.  The most wakiest part was when they all crowded around me saying "omg your sooo brainy"... bloody hell no wonder i decided to stay single haha.

oh well as in all of these situations.... it all unravelled and by the end of the year things were crap and i was a nice moody person as allways.

oh and i wllmost forgot.... this was the start of the pussy decade for our family.... no not that pussy... clean your dirty minds out lol... i mean CAT.   We got our first cat (Muffin) from the SPCA in the middle of the year but she was crazy and very difficult to tame.... but hek she kept all the other cats from coming on our property hehe so was good in defending her territory woop woop.  but nah she was just too wild... obviously had a bad upbringing... and we had to take her back.  The next cat we got was Skippy and got her from a litter of kittens and that someone was giving away.  She was cool... very affectionate but unfortunately died in 1992.... we suspect she was run over by a car.

At the end of the year we had a pool party at a classmates house... by now i was definately mr unpopular and my metal attitude wasn't halping matters.  But what followed was quite trajic... whilst my brother was having his end of year party we got a phonecall from the RSA.  Pop had just had a massive Heart Attack and mum raced over to Papatoetoe to be with her Dad... but unfortunately he didn't make it and mum told us by phone that he was dead before he hit the ground.  This shattered mum who thought the world of her Dad and we all felt he was taken far too soon as unlike Grandpa... he was in good physicial condition.  The coronary demon would visit again in the following year... allmost claiming the life of my uncle.
