COVID TEST
I actually did get tested yday as I’m planning two trips next month. I will outline where I stand regarding the COVID procedures that I outlined previously.
TESTING: I’ve been tested twice and plan to get routinely tested before every trip outside of Auckland... ie if I go down to Wellington etc. I also get tested if I have cold or flu like symptoms. Both time’s I’ve been tested it’s been in the “off season” ie at times of low alert (lever 1) so yday I just drove up and got the probe up the nostril and within seconds I was on my way. Of course the previous time I got tested it was cos I was sick so precautionary and it was at my GO as opposed to at the resting stations.
SCANNING: I do this religiously as I have parents in their 70s that I regularity visit some I wanna know if I’ve been around ppl who’ve been tested. A lot of ppl are concerned about their privacy yet are fine with paper trails due to cashless transactions. I’m well aware of trails and what have you and if the govt is after you they know where to find you regardless of whether you scan or not.
MASKS: basically PPE sanitizer etc anything that protects against transmission or catching the virus... interesting as these measures protect against other germs as well... including ones much worse than covid. So yeah I’m a big mask wearer... for reasons unrelated to covid I mite add. it’s quite cool being the only person in a shop with a mask on. I have to wear a mask for Uber anyway so I’m used to it and have no problems whatsoever for a few minutes at a time... wearing it for long periods however does cause problems with my Tourette’s and sometimes I start sneezing so I am aware of the fibres and mould as o tend to re use mine... haha gross I know... doesn’t worry me. Sanitizer protects against other germs as well like bacteria etc and also parasites... if you have pets there is the danger of getting worms which to me freaks me out more than covid.
LOCKDOWNS: or really any isolation. I’m fine with isolation and normally self isolate anyway even with a cold or flu... I refuse to work when sick anyway and I don’t really have much time for the “economy” either... that’s secondary to ppls well being. I was fully supportive of the first big level 4 lockdown but wasn’t impressed that we kept having to do level 3s as a result of ex pats that had been out of the country for 30 years running to momma just cos a glorified cold is running rampant in other places.
VACCINES: at the mo I don’t trust the vaccine and in NZ I see no need to take it. I have a tetanus shot owing me before I even think about any of the covid jabs. At the mo they aren’t even available to the general public and I’m more than happy to be last in line haha. I’m not saying I’m against it I’m just saying that it’s early days and I wanna make sure it’s safe before I take it. As I plan to travel I’ll prob eventually take the jab if things don’t improve. But if I’m staying in New Zealand I really don’t see the point.
