2005

2005 was a year of transition for me.  At 29 years of age this was the year that i finally left home.  Other than that it was a year spent mostly kitesurfing and working at maccas.

At the start of the year i was promoted to fulltime maintenence at maccas.  To start with i was working under someone.... but when he left in the middle of the year i was basically in charge and thats when things finally got really good at maccas.  Under new management and ownership things were allready brilliant there and me and Amon got on really well.  With my kitesurfing going well and my job going well there was no way i was heading to nzpost anytime soon.  Things were sweet.  However the big move was in the back of my mind... it was gonna happen this year.

I was still a kitesurfing addict and yet to meet any of my recent group of friends.  The only "muskateers" i had met at this stage were Calvin and Bex.  It would be another year before i would run into Jackie and Eva.  However once Calvin left maccas to join the army I would be introduced to my new maintenance boy... John Dufty.

Things with kitesurfing were still shaky in regards to other kiters on forums etc.  But by now i had buried the hatchets with many of the overseas guys.... it was just the ppl from NZ who still had problems with me.  Nothing like as bad as 2004 though but definately still there.  politically i was starting to chill out a bit.. ever so slowly liberalising and once i left home this trend would gather pace and 2005 was the year where i made the genuine swap to be a liberal leftie.  The introduction of the muskateers over the next few years would keep me in a liberal state.  But allready things were changing... i was accepting alcohols right to exist and was relaxing my conservative attitude towards sex.. including gays.  I did all this whilst still remaining a virgin and staying alcohol free... but at least i accepted this stuff occuring around me and i could hang with ppl who did this sorta thing... which is virtually everybody i mite add lol.

Once i had left home things changed quite a bit... i know had more freedom... even financially despite bills bills bills etc cos i no longer had to save save save so the pressure was off.  It was a feeling i never really lost.

Dufty and I got on well and when Calvin returned from the army him and Dufty got on well too... the unofficial start of the muskateers?  yep

Teena too arrived on the scene at maccas.  She would also be a part of the muskateers.  But the real addition to the muskateers would arrive on da scen the following year...
